President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran on Monday exposed another rift within the MAGA base.
Around 4 p.m. Eastern time, Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Israel and Iran agreed to a "Complete and Total CEASEFIRE" for 12 hours. That announcement followed reports that a U.S. military operation in Iran had destroyed three of its nuclear facilities.
"During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, 'THE 12 DAY WAR.' This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!"
The announcement set off firestorms within the MAGA base, with some prominent names calling on more skeptical members of the base to support the president.
"Neocons gonna go from celebrating to suicide watch in record time," Donald Trump Jr. said on X.
"President Trump brokered peace in the volatile Middle East between Iran and Israel, ending a 12 day war, and Democrats and the Neocon RINO's are big mad!" Mike Engleman wrote.
Prominent conspiracy theorist and internet show host Alex Jones added that the United States "is not out of the woods yet," but Trump's plan appears to be successful.
"How dare us try to stop a GIGANTIC new war! How dare us be happy there is a cease-fire between Israel and Iran! The disgraced neocons of the George W. Bush and the Dick Cheney era are really trying to make a pathetic comeback right now," Jones posted on X.
"Can someone tell Lindsey Graham to stop being a neocon POS?" conservative influencer Gunther Eagleman wrote.
