President Donald Trump's loyal base melted down Wednesday after Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) claimed the Texas flood that killed more than 100 people had "humbled" Trump.

Newsom made the comments during a tour stop in South Carolina, where the governor spoke about the Democrats' efforts to stand up to Trump.

"After all, the natural disaster that occurred and continues to occur in Texas may have humbled him," Newsom said, referring to Trump. "That image, I don't know if you saw what I saw, but God as my witness, the first image I saw this morning. I turned on MSNBC, and it was a photograph of that beautiful 13-year-old girl and her 11-year-old sister who were found clutching each other's hands and were washed down the river."

In response, the MAGA world took to social media to express their disdain for Newsom's comments.

"The same man who can't protect female athletes from men in their locker rooms or can't keep water in his fire hydrants, thinks he can kick-start his presidential run by essentially blaming President Trump for the tragedy in Texas," MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "What a sad stunt."

"It's despicable that Democrats are using the deaths of children during an unspeakable natural disaster to score cheap political points," the RNC Research account posted on X.

"Sickening—Already exploiting the deaths of children in a devastating disaster just to take political jabs," Resist Times wrote on X.
