Donald Trump may stage a MAGA-themed extravaganza for the final year of his presidency, Slate columnist Justin Peters suggests, using the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as a global showcase. Peters predicts Trump could transform the games into a “tacky MAGA horror show,” testing how his brand looks on the world stage. While financial strains on the UN and IOC add potential complications, Peters notes the spectacle could be Trump’s last chance to flex his political and cultural influence before leaving office.
