Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Friday directed her supporters to a fundraising page for Kyle Rittenhouse, who is scheduled to stand trial in November for fatally shooting two men at a Black Lives Matter protest.
Rittenhouse allegedly traveled from his home in Illinois to Kenosha, Wisconsin armed with an AR-15 rifle to confront activists protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake. Rittenhouse allegedly shot three people.
In January, Rittenhouse was photographed allegedly flashing a "white power" sign while out drinking with members of the Proud Boys.
Greene defended him publicly on Twitter.
"Democrats seeded chaos and stoked violence in cities all over the country for a year. Billions in damage, devastating communities, lawlessness & the media cheered it on," Greene said.
"A boy stepped forward when most grown men stayed home. Remember Kyle Rittenhouse," she wrote, with a link to his legal defense fund.
