Donald Trump's former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has asked to move an Arizona criminal case to federal court after he was charged with trying to subvert the 2020 presidential election.
In an order filed in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona this week, U.S. District Judge John Tuchi said Meadows had asked "to remove his state criminal prosecution to this Court."
The filing said an evidentiary hearing should be "held promptly" to determine the correct venue for Meadows' case.
Tuchi said that his court would follow the same approach used when Meadows tried to move similar charges against him in Georgia to federal court.

Earlier this year, a three-judge panel for the U.S. Appeals Court for the 11th Circuit denied Meadows' request to move the Georgia case.
Meadows had pleaded not guilty in Arizona to felony charges for his role in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
