President Joe Biden dubbed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg “little twerp” when he was Vice President during the Obama administration.

MSNBC’s Morning Joe spoke with Bloomberg reporter Riley Griffin on her findings

Griffin spoke with more than 30 sources and found that “Zuckerberg was really frustrated by his relationship to the Biden Administration in years past. President Joe Biden, even when he was a vice president, had disdain for Mark Zuckerberg.”

She noted, “[Biden] was privately calling [Zuckerberg] little twerp and worse, behind closed doors and [Trump presented] an opportunity to get close to an administration again, to get access to the west wing again.”

This access is essential because Meta is currently being sued by the federal government for holding an illegal monopoly. They are arguing if they should break up the tech giant's trillion-dollar empire.

The Federal Trade Commission has argued in court that Meta has engaged in illegal, monopolistic behavior when they purchased Instagram and Whatsapp. The investigation into Meta started under the Biden administration.

Zuckerberg is “not a man who is motivated by one political ideology or another, the left or the right, but rather has a finely tuned sense of self-preservation, and this is manifesting in this moment right now,” Griffin said. His move to appease the MAGA base might just be another attempt to preserve his company.

Griffin noted, “Zuckerberg had made attempts to convince President Donald Trump and the FTC chair [Lina Khan] to settle the FTC case before it went to trial. That did not work. We saw him take the stand for hours earlier this year, and so it still remains to be seen what benefit he will get from this new strategy.”

Right now, it seems the relationship is only benefiting Trump. MSNBC reported, “earlier this year, Meta agreed to pay a $25 million settlement to Trump over its decision to suspend his accounts after the January 6th insurrection.”
