Oklahoma Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R) said Monday afternoon he wasn't certain the timing of former President Joe Biden's cancer announcement was genuine.

"It's interesting — the timing of them releasing the cancer, right?" Mullin said from Arlington, Virginia.

"I said this kind of tongue-in-cheek when we were talking a while ago," Mullin continued. "It seems like since the Hur tapes were released, they're like, 'Hey wait, it might be a good time to distract the American people and talk about his cancer.' Because we know that cancer's been there for a while."

The Biden family found out that he had advanced-stage four prostate cancer on Friday. The family announced it through a spokesperson on Saturday.

Biden spoke with GOP special counsel Robert Hur on Oct. 8 and 9, 2023. The probe was about Biden's classified documents found in an office closet and his garage, The Associated Press reported. Once found, the documents were returned. The documents were found after President Donald Trump left his first term. Trump took classified documents and refused to return them for over a year, resulting in the FBI coming to his country club, Mar-a-Lago, to retrieve the documents.

Biden was not charged in his investigation, while Trump was charged with 40 felony counts, the Kansas Reflector described.

The Biden interviews took place in the hours and days following the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel, Axios recalled. Biden rushed to Israel 10 days later to offer U.S. assistance.
