'Don't put words in my mouth': GOP senator gets testy with CNN's Kaitlan Collins
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) appears on The Source with Kaitlan Collins on June 24, 2025

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins clashed on Tuesday night over the veracity of a leaked report about the U.S. bombing campaign in Iran.

Earlier in the day, CNN reported that the bombing of three nuclear facilities in Iran only set the regime back by a couple of months. That conclusion seems to contradict the description offered by President Donald Trump on Monday, when he said on Truth Social that the bombs "OBLITERATED" the three facilities.

Throughout the interview, Mullins attempted to discredit CNN's reporting. He claimed the sourcing for it was unsubstantial and that more information would come that backs up Trump's assertions.

"We made very clear that this is a preliminary report," Collins said.

"Then why did you run with it?" Mullins shot back. "You are assuming this is the report when it's not even close to the report."

The conversation became even more tense when Collins asked whether Trump should tell the American people about the intelligence that led to the strike on Iran.

Mullin suggested that more information would come out about the bombing, including a "success report." Mullins seemed to suggest that the information would be made public, and Collins asked him to clarify.

"Don't put words in my mouth, Kaitlan!" Mullins shot back.
