'Republicans are heading for a reckoning': Mary Trump warns GOP about its next big fight

Donald Trump's niece is sounding the alarm, warning Republicans that they are in for a "reckoning" when it comes to upcoming elections.

Mary Trump, herself a psychologist and a frequent critic of her uncle, drew attention to the story of Kate Cox on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, "The View's" Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former aide to Trump, made it clear that she too takes issue with the recent decision by the Texas Supreme Court to force Cox to carry a dangerous pregnancy.

As for Mary Trump, she says Cox’s "bravery cannot be ignored and even more importantly, her decision to stand up for her rights and the future of her family is reigniting a movement."

"Blue states are fighting back, and winning," she said. "Citizens in red states like Ohio and Texas are waking up; and Republicans are heading for a reckoning on Election Day."

In a post on her Substack on Tuesday, Mary Trump says Cox "has the GOP running scared."

As for the "day of reckoning," Mary Trump notes that "ALL of the justices on the Texas Supreme Court are Republicans."

"In 2024, two will be up for reelection: the aforementioned John P. Devine, confessed criminal, and Jimmy Blacklock," she wrote on Tuesday. "If Ohio taught us anything, both are in deep trouble."

She continues:

"In November, at a time when Democrats were allegedly had their backs to the wall, Republicans were CRUSHED across the country in large part because of their Medieval approach to women’s reproductive rights in particular, and the rights of women in general," she wrote. "Young people came out in droves to pass Issue 1 in Ohio, protecting abortion rights in a Republican-dominated state."

She added:

"There’s hope for Texas, too. Polls say a whopping 78% of Texans think abortion in some form should remain legal."
