A Florida Democrat shared his party's ideas on how to "fight back" against President Donald Trump acting as an "opposition party" — and slammed his "complicit and spineless" GOP colleagues for enabling "corrupt billionaires" to "eviscerate the federal government.

Rep. Maxwell Frost joined CNN's "The Lead" with anchor Jake Tapper on Friday. When Tapper asked Frost to respond to critics asking, "Where are the Democrats?" Frost said his party needs to act like an opposition party rather than a minority party.

That starts with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' (D-NY) 10-point plan that he put out last week.

Frost flagged what he saw as the "most important" points in that plan: using every procedural step and tactic at their disposal to delay things they think will be bad. Additionally, he called for holding his colleagues accountable, noting Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) nearly surprised Republicans with an effort to subpoena Elon Musk. The effort narrowly failed after some Democrats notably missed the vote.

"One day we will catch them slipping and we will be able to have the accountability with what's going on," he said.

Outside of the House, Democrats plan to work with groups and organizations and use litigation. They've also visited the buildings housing the agencies being gutted, confronting people and talking with people from Musk's Department of Government Efficiency "face to face."

"Unfortunately they have locked the doors to a lot of these buildings have sent out armed guards to not let us in these buildings," he said, adding the people need to continue to "rise up to protest" and "resist."

"Tell ourselves we're not the minority, we're the opposition, and we have to fight back," he said.

Later in the segment, Frost took aim at Musk, DOGE as well as his Republican colleagues.

"This corrupt billionaire donor has been given the keys to the entire government," he said. "That is not transparency."

While Frost supports efficiency, he noted DOGE is acting behind closed doors.

"This isn't about efficiency. This is about eviscerating the federal government so that way these corrupt billionaires can run rampant. We see it for the lie and the great betrayal that it is," he said.

Frost said Democrats will continue to attack Trump and Musk, as well as the "complicit and spineless" Republican Party in Congress, who aren't "standing up to any of this."

"I mean when the Medicaid system shut down, there were no Republicans that same out and said, 'I support President Trump but Medicaid is important for my people."

"Not a single damn Republican," he added.
