The first lady is reportedly begging off from appearing with President Donald Trump at the major Republican event, meant to boost party morale and her husband's sagging approval ratings with voters.
Melania is an infrequent companion to Trump, who is more often seen with his “human binkie” Natalie Harp at his beck and call.
Next week Trump is expected to be in the spotlight for two days in Dallas at a rare GOP midterm convention, which has been called “Trump-a-Palooza."
According to the Washington Examiner, Melania has begged off being in the spotlight with him.

The first lady won't be the only one skipping the opportunity to bask in Trump’s glow.
Politico has reported a substantial number of Republican lawmakers will skip the two-day event in order to campaign and spend time with their families.
As one GOP lawmaker put it, going to Texas is a “waste of time.”
