Actress Taraji P. Henson took a swipe at celebrities who are attending the Met Gala, given heavy involvement this year by tech billionaire Jeff Bezos, Page Six reported on Monday.

"The 'Empire' actress made her opinion on the topic known while responding to social media personality Meredith Lynch’s rant about Bezos’ involvement in the event," said the report. "'If you are a celebrity and you attend the Met Gala and you wear the ICE OUT pin, please note that I will be dragging you in perpetuity,' Lynch said in an Instagram video over the weekend. You cannot wear the ICE OUT pin to the Jeff Bezos-backed Met Gala.”

After Lynch accused Bezos, who heads up Amazon, of being "part of the reason we're in this [expletive] mess," Henson agreed, writing in the comments, "I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like [Expletive] ARE WE DOING?"

Bezos has come under fire for years for his seeming closeness to the president.

In Trump's first term he was outspoken against certain administration policies, like immigration restrictions; however, in the 2024 election he intervened to stop the editorial team of The Washington Post, which he owns, from endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris, and then gave generously to Trump's inaugural fund after he was elected. Bezos also came under fire for staying silent after the Trump administration raided the home of a Washington Post reporter earlier this year.

Lynch went on to add this closeness to Trump is especially galling from the perspective of him hosting the Met Gala, because Trump has slashed federal funding for arts programs.

Additionally, noted the report, "On Sunday night, activists projected a call to 'boycott the Bezos Met Gala' onto a building visible from his penthouse, with messages highlighting issues of wealth inequality, climate accountability and labor rights."
