Former Lt. Gen. Mike Flynn, the controversial figure Donald Trump named to be his White House national security adviser, stunned observers with his answer to a question about potentially executing political enemies.
Flynn, who recently escalated violent rhetoric against Vice President Kamala Harris by calling her "an enemy of America" and saying we're at "war," was reportedly asked if he would consider "executing the swamp."
His answer shocked many observers.

The moment was reported on social media by independent journalist and filmmaker Ford Fischer.
"General Michael Flynn was asked at the Rod of Iron Freedom Festival Friday night if he'd 'sit at the head of a military tribunal to not only drain the swamp, but imprison the swamp, and on a few occasions, execute the swamp.' General Flynn says 'What your sentiment is about is accountability' and that 'I definitely believe we need accountability,'" he reported Saturday.
"There's a way to get after this, but we have to win first," Flynn further said, according to the weekend report. "These people are already up to no good, so we gotta win first. We win, and then [Katy] Bar the door. Believe me, the gates of hell, my hell will be unleashed."
Former Obama staffer Tommy Vietor said, "Flynn’s answer to the question of whether he will lead a military tribunal to execute Trump’s political enemies is, first we have to win the election then we can get to that. No breath is wasted telling this man that extrajudicial killing is wrong."
MSNBC contributor Sam Stein said, "Sure, this is petrifying. On the other hand, 60 minutes edited part of an interview it did."
Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau also chimed in:
"Trump has said he wants to bring back Flynn if he wins. This is as serious as it gets and certainly feels like it should be the story of the weekend, along with Trump’s former top general calling him fascist."
