House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) argued that President Donald Trump "deserves" the Nobel Peace Prize for ordering a federal takeover of law enforcement in Washington, D.C.

Johnson made the proclamation in a Monday post on X.

"There are MANY reasons why President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize - but 11 straight days with ZERO murders in Washington, D.C. might top the list," the speaker wrote. "SAFER streets. STRONGER communities."

"AMERICA IS BACK!" he added.

Trump has long sought a Nobel Prize.

According to the Norwegian outlet Dagens Næringsliv, Trump called Norway's finance minister last month to ask about a nomination.

"Out of the blue, while finance minister Jens Stoltenberg was walking down the street in Oslo, Donald Trump called … He wanted the Nobel prize – and to discuss tariffs," a report said earlier this month.
