CNN reporter Jamie Gangel revealed on Wednesday that the staff of former Vice President Mike Pence is willing to cooperate with the January 6th House Select Committee in part because of residual anger over what former President Donald Trump put their boss through during the Capitol riots.
While talking with host Anderson Cooper, Gangel added some more details to an earlier CNN report about the House Select Committee reaching out to Pence staffers.
"We've heard from the beginning that Pence staffers were very angry, both in the lead-up to January 6th and that day," she said. "And that, certainly, I think, is playing a role into how and why they're engaging with the committee."
Gangel went on to say that the Pence staffers "have texts, e-mails, other documents that could be of interest" that could be of interest to the committee's work.
She also highlighted a tweet sent out from Pence's official account on January 6th after the Capitol had been secured in which the then-vice president thanked the Capitol police for their work, which she said was Pence staffers' way of telling off Trump.
"I think it is fair to say the staff, who were very angry, put that out as a clear statement that while President Trump was watching the insurrection on TV, while people were calling for 'Hang Mike Pence,' that the former vice president was thanking the police for protecting him and the country," she said.
