Mike Pence is suspending his 2024 presidential campaign.

Donald Trump's former vice president, who failed to gain traction against the ex-president in most major polls, announced on Saturday that the Bible told him it is time to give it up.

In announcing his decision, Pence said, "But The Bible tells us, “'There is a time for every purpose under heaven.' So, after much prayer and deliberation, I have decided to suspend my campaign for President effective immediately."

He continued to say he "will never leave the fight for conservative values, and I will never stop fighting to elect principled leaders to every office in the land."

"We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets," Pence added. "The only thing harder than coming up short would have been to have never tried at all."

Pence did not appear to endorse Trump in his statement.
