Sen. Mitch McConnell's office released a photograph Monday showing the 84-year-old senator with his wife, Elaine Chao, 73, and addressed mounting health concerns.

The statement and image made matters worse, The Daily Mail argued.

After its release, podcast host Jeff Yang questioned its authenticity on Bluesky.

Yang, who claims to know members of the Chao family, questioned, "I can’t imagine Elaine, one of the most put-together people in existence, releasing a pic wearing a thin shirt over a visible black bra, UNTUCKED."

Yang used reverse image search to identify Chao's blouse as a $12 Chico's shirt, a retailer he deemed wildly inconsistent with her typically refined appearance.

He concluded the outfit detail made the photo implausible, writing, "ELAINE IS DEPICTED WEARING A $12 CHICO'S SHIRT," and made crass assumptions about her mental health.

Yang's critique fueled further speculation about the photograph's authenticity and McConnell's condition.
