Republicans have finally picked a speaker to lead them in the House of Representatives, but the GOP lawmaker who held that position on a temporary basis for the past three weeks still isn't happy that things went the way they did.
Bloomberg reporter Jonathan Tamari brings word that Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), who served for three weeks as the speaker pro tempore, vented about the entire ordeal while talking with reporters on Thursday.
In particular, he said that the motion to vacate former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and spend precious time fighting amongst themselves for a new speaker was, “Perhaps the dumbest set of politics or decision-making a majority party in this institution can make."

He also said that he would have supported a MAGA-sponsored amendment to have him removed as speaker pro tempore given how frustrated he was with the entire process.
After ousting McCarthy, Republicans went through multiple candidates ranging from Reps. Steve Scalise (R-LA) to Jim Jordan (R-OH) to Tom Emmer (R-MN) before finally settling on Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) this week.
