Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) took to Fox News Thursday to demand the execution of Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the 29-year-old Afghan man suspected of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

“I hope that the [Justice Department] and the judge in this case will put this terrorist down,” Mace said, speaking to Fox’s Kevin Corke. “He doesn't deserve to live!”

Lakanwal reportedly used a .357 revolver to shoot two National Guard members – 24-year-old Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe and 20-year-old Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom – both of whom are believed to be in critical condition. The suspect was arrested, and suffered injuries as well.

Lakanwal arrived in the United States following the U.S. 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan, and had apparently worked on behalf of the CIA as part of the agency’s Zero Unit, which was trained by the agency to conduct counterterrorism operations amid the U.S. invasion and occupation of Afghanistan.

As to who carried blame for the shooting, Mace said that former President Joe Biden held most, if not all of the culpability.

“What we're learning now is that the devastating withdrawal from Afghanistan has had devastating consequences,” Mace said. “We've learned after the withdrawal that the Biden administration didn't fully vet the individuals that were coming from Afghanistan over here to the United States.”

Mace also made a stunning comment that she had reason to believe that potentially “hundreds” of other “terrorists” had already infiltrated the United States during the Biden administration, and could carry out attacks at any moment.

“We know on our southern border during the Biden administration, we had a number – hundreds – of potential terrorists that came across the southern border into the United States, we know that there are terrorist cells all across the country waiting to act,” she continued.

“We don't know when – and so we've got to be vigilant, and we need to make sure that we don't allow this sort of thing to happen again.”
