'Every sector': Nancy Mace admits tariff inflation 'risk' as Fox News lists affected items

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) admitted that President Donald Trump's tariffs posed a "risk" of higher prices to U.S. consumers as Fox News host Jon Scott told her that "virtually every sector" of the economy would be impacted.

"This trade war that has erupted involving the US, Mexico, China and Canada, will it drive up consumer prices?" Scott asked after Trump imposed 25% tariffs on most goods from Canada and Mexico, with an additional 10% tariff on Chinese products.

"There is a potential risk, as Donald Trump mentioned, but Canada and Mexico, let's face it, these are the facts," Mace admitted. "They made their bed, and now they can lie in it."

"Some might call it bullying, but quite frankly, I'm not going to take advice from the left," she insisted.

"What about inflation?" the Fox News host wondered. "Because inflation that erupted under the Biden administration is a big part of the reason, not the only reason, but a big part of the reason that Donald Trump was reelected. So if this kicks off higher consumer prices, inflation, is it worth it?"

Mace conceded that she was "deeply concerned about inflation" but suggested it could be tackled in other ways.

"Thank God for DOGE, they're looking at waste, fraud, and abuse," she said. "We have to look at spending."

As Mace answered, Fox News scrolled a partial list of products that could be affected by the tariffs, including avocados, maple syrup, ground beef, cherry tomatoes, sugar, bananas, nuts, cooking oil, squash, cucumbers, strawberries, pineapples, toys, and cars.

"We were just looking at a scrolling list of some of the products and companies that are going to be affected, and it seems like virtually every sector of the American economy potentially could be targeted by these tariffs and the tariffs that Mexico and Canada have now announced that they will institute against U.S. goods," Scott pointed out.
