"She had a problem with everybody," a neighbor told the website The Messenger.
Lorincz is accused of killing Ajike Owens who was playing with her 10-year-old son when she was shot. The two had a history, and Lorincz allegedly fired through her front door.
Reports said Lorincz had complained that the Owens kids were playing on the lawn too close to her home.
According to the police report, Lorincz threw a roller skate at the younger boy, hitting him in the foot. She then swung an umbrella at the boy and his 12-year-old brother. The elder brother then went to tell their mother.
Owens went to confront Lorincz, who immediately fired.
"She yells at kids, makes racial comments," neighbor Hector Ramirez told The Messenger. "Just a bad neighbor. She's been awful to everybody."
"They hated each other and would talk sh— about each other all the time," Ramirez continued. "And Susan would go racial when she talked about them. Called them the N-word, monkeys, animals. It was bad."
"I've got reports that these things, they've called, one side or the other. Either the mother, Ms. Owens, has called, or the shooter has called complaining about the children," Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods told the site.
Reporters said that they spoke to about six neighbors, all of whom said Lorincz is "well-known in the neighborhood for her angry tirades against children."
"Susan had a problem with all kids, but she did seem to have a special problem with Ajike's children," explained Cathy Perdue. "And it really did seem to be based on their race. She didn't like Black people, and she wasn't afraid to say it."
They later determined that the law wouldn't apply in this case, and police made the arrest.
Lorincz claimed a "Stand Your Ground" defense, which allows anyone who feels they're in danger to kill someone in defense.
"Any time that we think or perceive or believe that [stand your ground] might come into play, we cannot make an arrest. The law specifically says that,” Woods said Tuesday. “And what we have to rule out is whether this deadly force was justified or not before we can even make the arrest."
