Pete Buttigieg perfectly mocks Ron DeSantis for campaign ad with 'oiled-up shirtless bodybuilders'

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg mocked a campaign advertisement created by Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis' team.

While speaking to CNN's Dana Bash on Sunday, Buttigieg was asked about an ad slamming former President Donald Trump's past pledges to protect the rights of LGBT people.

"You know, I'm going to choose my words carefully, partly because I'm appearing as secretary, so I can't talk about campaigns," Buttigieg replied after Bash played a clip of DeSantis' ad.

"And I'm going to leave aside the strangeness of trying to prove your manhood by putting up a video that splices images of you in between oiled-up shirtless bodybuilders," he added, "and just get to the bigger issue that is on my mind whenever I see this stuff in the policy space, which is, again, who are you trying to help?"

"You know, we're focused as an administration on how to get things done to make people better off," the secretary noted.

Buttigieg's husband, Chasten Glezman Buttigieg, called the campaign ad "so gay" in a remark on Twitter.
