Democrat Phil Murphy projected to win second term as New Jersey governor by AP and CNN

New Jersey Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy is projected to have won a second term as governor in a race that was vastly closer than polls anticipated.

Both CNN and the Associated Press have now projected Murphy as the winner despite facing a surprisingly strong challenge from Republican Jack Ciattarelli.

With more than 90 percent of the vote reported, Murphy has a lead of just one percentage point, despite polls leading up to the election showing him comfortably ahead.
