Nine high school students wounded after three suspects open fire on Philly bus stop

Eight high school students who were waiting at a Northeast Philadelphia bus stop were wounded after three suspects got out of a car and began shooting.

Surveillance video showed the three suspects exiting the car and opening fire before jumping back in the car with a fourth suspect who was the getaway driver, Fox 5 reported. Police later found the getaway car abandoned in an alley.

The shooters reportedly fired more than 30 shots at the crowd of students who were at the bus stop.

The victims were ages 15-17 and were all transported to a hospital. One of the victims, who sustained nine gunshots wounds, is listed in critical condition.

The School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony B. Watlington, Sr. sent out a press release Wednesday evening addressing the shooting.

"Caring for the mental and physical well-being of our students remains a top priority for the District. While school will be virtual tomorrow, the District’s Emergency Crisis Response Team of the Office of Prevention and Intervention will be on-site at Northeast High School starting tomorrow to support our students with grief counseling and whatever emotional assistance they need. Counselors are also available for students at Crossan School starting tomorrow through our team of crisis counselors from the Office of Prevention and Intervention. "
