President Donald Trump joked he was the "number-one choice" ahead of next week's selection of a new Pope.

In the days after Pope Francis' death, Trump was asked Tuesday if he had a preference for a new pontiff.

"As Pope? I'd like to be Pope," the president joked to reporters. "That would be my number-one choice."
