Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) lashed out at President Donald Trump because Krishnamoorthi saysthe price of a dozen eggs was nearing the price of a magazine for an AK-47 assault-style rifle.
During a Wednesday House Oversight Committee hearing on sanctuary cities, Krishnamoorthi brought up rising prices under Trump's leadership.
"According to USDA, the wholesale cost of a dozen eggs has gone from $6.59 since January 19th, when Donald Trump took office, to $8.39, a 27% increase," the lawmaker told mayors appearing as witnesses.
"President Trump, if you're watching this hearing, I respectfully ask, when will egg costs be high enough for you to issue one executive order on bird flu?" he said, addressing the president. "$10 a carton? $15 a carton?"

"It'll soon be cheaper to buy a magazine for an AK-47 than to buy breakfast. This is flat-out wrong."
As he spoke, Krishnamoorthi displayed a poster that noted that eggs were $8.99 while an AK-47 magazine was going for $9.99.
