A public spat between Reps. Randy Fine (R-FL) and Ritchie Torres (D-NY) escalated Friday after Fine went after the New York Democrat for his academic record, dubbing him a “loser who flunked out of college.”
The feud kicked off Thursday on social media after Fine cheered on the starvation of Palestinian civilians and children amid the Israel-Hamas conflict, writing that until Hamas releases its Israeli hostages, Palestinians should continue to “starve away.”
Torres, a staunch supporter of Israel, called the comments “evil.”
Fine immediately hit back, calling Torres a “fraud,” and suggesting he was an enemy to Jews. Torres responded in kind by calling Fine a “bloated, braindead, blithering idiot who has no business being in Congress,” and said that the Florida Republican was below the title of “jester” as it would be “an insult to jesters who have more brain cells.”
Friday morning, Fine hit back at Torres once again, and this time, singled out his academic history.
“Says the loser who flunked out of college, and has never worked a real job a day in his life,” Fine wrote in a social media post on X. “I always find it amusing when self-important liberals lose their mind because I have the parchment they covet and the real-world success they are too lazy to achieve.”
Torres dropped out early from New York University during his sophomore year due to “severe depression,” and subsequently became a housing organizer for a former New York City councilman, a decision that later inspired him to run for office and ultimately become the city’s youngest official elected in the Bronx in history.
Fine’s initial comments, suggesting Palestinian civilians should continue to “starve away,” was in response to an ABC News report detailing the recent death of 15 Palestinians, including four children, who had died from malnutrition in the past 24 hours amid Israel’s ongoing aid blockade. A total of 101 deaths from malnutrition, including 80 children, have been documented by the Palestinian Ministry of Health.Says the loser who flunked out of college, and has never worked a real job a day in his life.
