President Donald Trump said a prayer for the people involved after an American Airlines regional jet airliner collided mid-air with a military Blackhawk helicopter Wednesday night near Reagan National Airport.
Officials have said a military helicopter collided with a regional jet near the airport in Arlington, Virginia. The plane reportedly carried 60 people and four crew members.
As fireboats rushed into the Potomac River searching for survivors, Trump joined other U.S. officials in sharing a statement late Wednesday that he had been "fully briefed on the terrible accident."
"May God Bless their souls. Thank you for the incredible work being done by our first responders. I am monitoring the situation and will provide more details as they arise."
