Hardline Republicans in the House of Representatives are close to tanking a budget blueprint passed by the United States Senate recently despite demands from President Donald Trump that they toe the line.

As reported by CNN's Manu Raju, Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Ralph Norman (R-SC), and Keith Self (R-TX) have all said they will vote against the Senate's budget blueprint, while Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), who has voted against every GOP budget measure so far, has also signaled his opposition.

"GOP leaders think they can flip some of these holdouts," Raju wrote on X and then added that they "can only lose three Rs with full attendance."

In addition to the four Republicans who are definite no votes, Raju also reports that Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) also said that he's leaning no while also calling the Senate blueprint "unserious."

According to Huffington Post reporter Arthur Delaney, this comes despite personal entreaties from Trump just one day ago.

"Trump told House lawmakers last night to close their eyes and vote for the budget," he wrote on X. "Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Ralph Norman (R-SC) just said they won't do it. Not looking good!"

The hardliners in the Republican camp want more significant cuts to the federal budget than those that are contained in the Senate blueprint, although such cuts could then lead to a revolt from swing-district members whose constituents depend on key government services such as Medicaid.
