Retired general takes down Mike Lee after senator objects during Trump impeachment trial

On Wednesday evening, following the second day of impeachment testimony in the Senate trial of former President Donald Trump, retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling sharply criticized Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) for his post-testimony tantrum.

"The world and America would be a better place if @SenMikeLee put as much emotion into insurrection as he does into being misquoted," wrote Hertling.

Lee caused uproar on the Senate floor when he demanded that the presiding judge, Senate President Pro Tempore Patrick Leahy (D-VT), strike from the record testimony from House impeachment manager Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI).

Cicilline had noted that Lee, after mistakenly being called by Trump while trying to reach Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), put him through — something first reported by CNN.
