Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President Donald Trump's nominee to run the Department of Health and Human Services, was approved by the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions — despite concerns previously vocalized by Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA).
Cassidy went on to vote for the nominee.
It prompted rage and fear from onlookers who expressed fear the American government was quickly becoming anti-science.
"Pathetic falling in line from a medical professional who clearly knew that the person he was interviewing for a critically important job was egregiously unqualified. This Senator bears responsibility for RFK Jr.'s impact on public health." said professor and propaganda expert Renee DiResta on Blue Sky when responding to Cassidy's approval.

When Trump first came to office in 2017, a series of alternative government agency accounts popped up on social media. One of them was Alt CDC, which on Tuesday called Dr. Cassidy a "spineless traitor."
"RFK Jr’s defenders: Let’s not focus on his comments about vaccines and autism from decades ago that aren’t relevant today. Let’s talk about RED DYE and SEED OILS! Trump, coming in at the last minute: LEEEEROOYYYY JENNNKINSSS," posted liberal commentator Corie Whalen on X.
"It’s Nazism. Just that. Anything Nazis did is exactly what they’re doing. RFK has talked about putting anyone on antidepressants into 'camps' to learn 'skills,'" said Dr. Liz Landsverk, MD on Blue Sky.
Dr. Mallory Harris, who studies infectious diseases, pointed to the top Republican leadership.
"After voting to recommend RFK Jr for confirmation, Sen. Tom Tillis clarified that he will be very sad if it turns out that RFK Jr is, in fact, anti-vaccine," she said with a photo of Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown.
Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) begged her colleagues to stop Kennedy: "RFK Jr. is a uniquely unqualified & dangerous pick to lead HHS. No one should have to die from diseases we can prevent because we told the American people a fringe conspiracy theorist & anti-vaxxer is worth listening to. The full Senate must REJECT RFK Jr.'s nomination."
"Republicans have maintained their pattern over the past eight years of capitulating to Trump despite his dangerous incompetence. They recognize that RFK Jr. is unqualified, yet they will confirm him anyway to avoid incurring Trump’s wrath and facing a primary challenge from a MAGA loyalist," said legal analyst Jon Hyman.
Many-time reality TV candidate and podcaster David Bloomberg posted on Blue Sky a request to the media: "Stop referring to RFK Jr. as a 'vaccine skeptic.' He is a conspiracy-mongering science denier. He’s not skeptical, he outright lies and deceives."
