At least one political analyst is urging Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) to leave the presidential campaigning to his surrogates.
DeSantis, struggling in the polls, spent the Fourth of July holiday participating in two parades. But political analyst Tara Newsom told WFLA's Mahsa Saeidi that the governor may not be doing himself any favors.
"It looks like voters are starting to really get to know him, and the more they get to know him, his narrative is a lot different than the man," Newsom explained. "Gov. DeSantis cannot get within striking reach of Donald Trump, and every time he makes a campaign stop, voters seem to step back."
In an interview with Saeidi on Wednesday, Newsom said DeSantis' campaign should pull him off the trail.
"She said that the governor should be pulled off the campaign trail," Saeidi said. "That's really not his strong suit. Instead, she says that the campaign should send surrogates, perhaps the first lady, to those early primary states."
DeSantis is trailing former President Donald Trump by about 30 points in most national polls.
"Ron DeSanctimonious is getting absolutely 'demolished' for yesterday's performance in New Hampshire," Trump claimed on Wednesday. "No crowds, no enthusiasm, no interest. His Campaign is in total disarray. He's hurting himself very badly for 2028. See, loyalty does matter with Patriots!"
