'They've gone too far': Columnist laments there's no reset for damage DeSantis has done to Florida

There’s no reset for the damage Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has done to his home state, a Miami columnist wrote Thursday.

While he’s able, with much fanfare, to announce he’s going back to the drawing board after a disastrous start to his campaign to be the GOP’s presidential nominee, the policies DeSantis has championed and the laws he’s passed in the four years of his governorship can’t be so easily erased, wrote Reed Hoffman for the Miami Herald.

Trump megadonor is now throwing cash at RFK Jr.: report

Although 69-year-old Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a member of Massachusetts' most famous Democratic family, his 2024 presidential campaign has been applauded by some far-right MAGA Republicans — including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, both of whom appreciate his disdain for vaccines and love of conspiracy theories. DeSantis has even said that if he were elected president, he would consider Kennedy for a position in his administration.

Another RFK Jr. cheerleader on the MAGA right, according to The Guardian's Mary Yang, is 81-year-old businessman and Donald Trump megadonor Timothy Mellon. Yang reports that American Values 2024, an RFK Jr.-associated super-PAC, received a $5 million donation from him.

'They can't beat Trump' in 2024: Republicans claim indictments are politically motivated

WASHINGTON — Members of Congress and Republicans competing against Donald Trump in the presidential primary quickly reacted Tuesday to the latest indictment against the former president, falling largely along party lines.

This one, by a federal grand jury, stems from Trump’s alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election after Election Day and leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of his supporters marched from a rally he held near the White House to attack the U.S. Capitol building.

Former Vice President Mike Pence of Indiana, who is running in the Republican presidential primary, said Trump’s ongoing status as a candidate isn’t good for the party or the country.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly says he opposes indoctrination in schools. Yet his administration in early July approved materials from a conservative group that says it’s all about indoctrination and “changing minds.” The Florida Department of Education determined that educational materials geared toward young children and high school students created by PragerU, a nonprofit co-founded by conservative radio host Dennis Prager, was in alignment with the state’s standards on how to teach civics and government to K-12 students. The content — some of which is narrated by conserva...
