Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) fired back at failed candidate Kari Lake after she lashed out at him when he attempted a polite handshake.
The confrontation occurred when the two ran into each other at Ned's Club Washington, D.C.
The Bulwark reported that Lake accepted the handshake "with both hands—a gesture that usually accompanies a warm greeting. What she said was anything but that."
"How does it feel," Lake reportedly asked, "to be bought and paid for by the cartels?"
Lake's accusation had previously been rated "Pants on Fire!" false by PolitiFact after she made it on Newsmax.
"I mean, look, it is pretty gross," Gallego explained to The Bulwark. "My wife is very disappointed in me because she said, 'You didn't take the bait for two years.'"

"I should not have overreacted," he continued. "I did try to rub it in—when [Lake] essentially said, 'How could you live with yourself every day?' I'm like, 'Easily: I won,' and I walked away."
President Donald Trump has chosen Lake to lead Voice of America, but her confirmation has hit roadblocks in the Senate.
