
A Capitol rioter seen using a bullhorn to urge his fellow protesters to take the guns of police officers struck a secret plea deal with the government to serve two-and-a-half years in prison, according to a filing that was unsealed this Monday – months after his conviction.
Samuel Lazar also used pepper spray on officers, NBC News reported.
In March last year, Lazar pleaded guilty in a sealed proceeding to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting or impeding officers and agreed to cooperate with the government, the filing shows.

He was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on March 17, 2023, but the justice department refused to confirm that it had happened at the time.
The filing was only released Monday after media companies including NBC News filed a petition demanding that it be unsealed.
