CNN’s Scott Jennings says Taylor Swift’s ‘greatest contribution’ would be 'lots of babies'

Global sensation singer-songwriter Taylor Swift overjoyed her fans with the announcement of her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But to pro-Trump CNN analyst Scott Jennings, the best part of all this is that she can be a good example to her fans — by having lots of babies.

Jennings made the comments on a CNN panel on Tuesday afternoon.

"I think we're on panda watch now," he said as the rest of the table chattered. "We — I'm just saying, I think the greatest contribution they could make to Western civilization at this point would be to have a bunch of babies and persuade all these people who mindlessly follow them to also have a bunch of babies."

"Mindlessly?" asked his co-hosts with a bit of incredulity.

"We don't have enough babies," said Jennings, a former Mitch McConnell adviser notorious for trolling his fellow CNN panelists. "I just think, they have a bunch of babies, it would help, you know, the birthrate."

Jennings was not alone in offering a sweeping cultural take on Swift's engagement.

Far-right activist Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a key figure behind President Donald Trump's voter outreach operation last year, speculated that marriage might properly turn the liberal-leaning Swift more conservative, telling her to "submit to your husband" and have "a ton of children" because "the three Ms make you a better citizen and more conservative, which of course is mortgage, marriage, and mating."
