Lawmakers rejected a plan to commission a statue of Arizona icon Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, and display it in the U.S. Capitol building, with conservatives saying that the idea of honoring O’Connor, a moderate Republican, was offensive.

“We cannot allow the distinguished members of this body to have to suffer walking by such an undistinguished jurist when they enter here in the morning,” Rep. Alexander Kolodin, R-Scottsdale, said.

In an attempt to counter the tactics of pro-Palestinian protesters, President Joe Biden’s team is keeping his movements secret, avoiding college campuses, keeping public events small, and even hiring people to vet attendees at his events.

At the same time that Judge Aileen Cannon was pressing lawyers for Donald Trump and Department of Justice prosecutors for a timetable to bring the Mar-a-Lago document case to trial, a former Florida judge was telling CNN that he believes special counsel Jack Smith has a "plan" to move forward no matter how Cannon rules.

Speaking with CNN's Dana Bash, Jeff Swartz noted a DOJ lawyer telling Cannon earlier that they plan to pursue the trial of the former president even it bumps up against the November election.

The final day of hearings in the complaint against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and a prosecutor on her team, Nathan Wade, began with legal analysts predicting that the arguments against her have failed to prove she should be disqualified.

The issue was whether Willis hired Wade because of their relationship and then benefited from his gifts to her. Law professor Joyce Vance said lawyers for Donald Trump and his co-defendants in the Fulton County RICO case have failed to prove that.

Sen. Tuberville is also calling for massive cuts to the federal government, saying only the "mentally unhealthy," "elderly," "veterans," and "farmers" should be eligible for financial support from the government.

President Joe Biden's son Hunter testified to House Republicans this week that he thanked God not to be a member of a family that would do something "crazy" like install a daughter-in-law as chairperson of their political party.

Biden also testified his father never operated a hotel catering to foreign nationals during his White House tenure, employed family members to work in the Oval Office or received a $355 million fine from his home state.

Former President Donald Trump has falsely claimed that the United States Department of Justice is not allowed to bring criminal cases against political candidates shortly before elections.

And now special counsel Jack Smith's team has slammed the door shut on that particular claim.
