Special counsel Jack Smith's plan to bring Donald Trump's role in the Jan. 6 attack into the broader 2020 election interference case shows he's essentially treating the former president as just another rioter, former federal prosecutor Mary McCord told MSNBC's Alex Wagner Friday.

'Grow up': House Dem says too much 'at stake' to waste time appeasing 'idiot wing' of GOP

Rep. Sean Casten (D-Illinois) unleashed on his Republican colleagues in a 16-tweet thread on Friday, urging them to "grow up" and govern before a "disastrous" government shutdown paralyzes federal agencies eight days from now.

In his thread, Rep. Casten contrasted the way Democrats wielded their House majority with Republicans' more chaotic time in charge of the House of Representatives. He explained that because Congress operates on a fiscal year schedule that ends on September 30, Democratic leaders like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) made sure the House passed its funding bills by the end of August each session so there was plenty of time for the US Senate to review appropriations and for the president to sign them into law.

Judge Cannon blocks Fani Wills' Trump prosecution with court date decision: legal expert

Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to keep the classified document trial dates as they stand, despite Donald Trump's rescheduling request, could be an attempt to cause problems for the Georgia prosecutor who has charged the former president with trying to overturn the 2020 election, according to NYU law professor Andrew Weissmann.

While some legal analysts took to social media to indicate their suspicions that the Florida judge will likely allow Trump to have whatever he requests, Weissman wonders if this new ruling isn't targeted at Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
