Jewish-Japanese restaurant set on fire in NYC in suspected anti-semitic attack: cops
Surveillance footage from NYPD

A hybrid Jewish-Japanese restaurant in the Brooklyn's hipster Williamsburg neighborhood was set on fire in what cops are investigating as a hate crime, The New York Post reported.

Police suspect the Nov. 18 arson was antisemitic. In the video, the man can be seen setting two window tarps on fire that police say were emblazoned with the Star of David.

The fire did not cause major damage to the main portion of the restaurant and there were no injuries reported.

The restaurant, Shalom Japan, is described by the Michelin guide as an “inspired” South Williamsburg eatery that “finds its culinary niche in mixing Japanese and Ashkenazi Jewish fare."

The incident comes as New York continues to see a rise in antisemitic hate crimes since the Oct. 7 terror attack carried out by Hamas against Israeli civilians.
