"The View's" Sunny Hostin believes that top officials in President Donald Trump's administration may have perjured themselves while testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday about the recent Signal scandal.

On Monday, a bombshell report in The Atlantic alleged that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth shared secret war plans in a Signal chat that included a reporter among its membership. The story reveals that the Signal chat was among the top Cabinet officials discussing classified military strikes against the Houthis in Yemen.

Director of National Security Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe disputed that the information was classified, but also maintained they couldn't discuss what was in the thread.

On Wednesday morning, screen captures were published of the chat, showing specific details about the strikes in Yemen that some experts believe would have been classified under the CENTCOM Classification Guide.

"The View" played a clip of Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) asking Ratcliffe whether the scandal was "a huge mistake." Ratcliffe said "no," which led the audience to crack up with laughter.

"Now, you see what it says," said Whoopi Goldberg, pointing to the chat screen captures displayed behind the table. "I'm no military expert, but it kind of does sound a little classified to me. Like, when the — look, you see a funny phone number in a group chat and you don't say to somebody, who is that? You see a name and think, Goldberg? Is that Whoopi? I mean, you see that there is a name that shouldn't be there."

She called it a "big deal."

"That's what is so problematic to me," said Hostin. "These people are testifying in committee under oath and it is now clear to me, at least as a former federal prosecutor, that they likely perjured themselves. And there are consequences to perjury."
