People traveling back home after Thanksgiving could run into some weather issues as a snowstorm is set to engulf much of the U.S., The Washington Post reported Friday.

Plowable snow will hit the Rockies and much of the plains, spreading from Montana into Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas, northwest Oklahoma and as far as the Texas Panhandle.

Those areas have all received harsh incoming winter weather warnings.

The National Weather Service said at least 45 states will be hit by low temperatures in the 20s by Thursday of next week.

"Scattered snow showers, some heavy, were present across Wyoming, southern Idaho, Colorado and Utah as of Friday morning," the Post reported.

Nearly 19 inches of snow fell in parts of Wyoming on Thanksgiving Day, the Post reported — twice the average for this time of year.
