In a report on Monday, CNN reporters wrote that Stephen Miller, as deputy chief of staff for policy, has become one of the most powerful people in Washington, D.C. — with a massive influence on the president.
Each day, Donald Trump meets with Miller and his chief of staff Susie Wiles, the report said. But even Miller's title "in many ways understates the extent of the sway he commands both with the president and Wiles.
During the first Trump administration, documents showed Miller helped build the child separation program that ripped kids from their immigrant parents at the border and led to a backlash against Trump. The move made him "something of a mastermind," the report said.

Now, Miller is focused on gutting the federal government by purging staff, and serves as the go-between with Trump and Elon Musk.
"Miller is now one of the most powerful people in government, with a direct line to Trump and – perhaps more importantly – a canny ability to translate Trump’s policy ideas into action," wrote CNN.
CNN also said that during Joe Biden's administration, Miller drafted a plan that would "seize control of the federal government while testing the bounds of executive authority." Now, Trump is acting on Miller's strategy.
Miller has become so powerful he now has Secret Service protection.
The report explained that for many Trump aides, the second that they "outshine the boss" they're out. Miller's ambition hasn't reached that level yet as people like Steve Bannon did in 2018.
