Tech billionaire Elon Musk has two "glorified babysitters" — Stephen and Katie Miller — who insiders say are the main reasons Musk hasn't clashed with President Donald Trump, according to a report.
Musk's Department of Government Efficiency initiative is tasked with slashing trillions out of the federal government, and has already gutted agencies including the U.S. Agency for International Development.
And Wired reported Thursday, citing multiple sources, that in Musk's circle, the Millers have become "pivotal figures."
"The couple has been tasked as intermediaries, bringing news about Musk’s latest targets and communications strategies to the rest of the White House," the report said, adding: "Just over a month into the new administration, they have been privately projecting themselves as two pairs of steady hands at the till."

Stephen Miller serves as the White House deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security adviser. He has also publicly clashed with journalists over Trump's policies. But two sources told Wired his current role is more of a "prime minister."
“Stephen is kind of the prime minister,” a Republican close to Trump told the outlet. Another also used the letters “PM” to describe Miller.
Meanwhile, his wife, Katie Miller, is a special government employee who functionally serves as communications head for DOGE.
And both were described as babysitters for Musk.
"The Millers are seen inside Trumpworld as glorified babysitters for Musk, tasked with ensuring he stays within bounds, insofar as that’s possible," the report said.
While one Republican said Musk "gets a lot of grace," another compared Musk to a preteen child. The Millers' role is why many in Trump's orbit believe the two's relationship won't blow up any time soon, despite reported tension.
“Stephen and Katie are very attentive to [Musk],” the Republican who described Stephen Miller as “prime minister” told Wired. “He’s got a forgiving audience: the audience of one, and all of us around him.”
