Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene reports Christmas Day swatting at her home

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claims a prankster sent a police tactical unit to her Georgia home on Christmas Day. “I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time,” the right-wing firebrand posted on social media. “On Christmas with my family here.” Greene has accused critics of wanting to have her “killed by police” as their reason for phoning emergency services to dispatch a SWAT team to her house when there was otherwise no danger. The congresswoman thanked local police for their efforts Monday and wished them a merry Christmas. “I appreciate them so much and my family and I are in joyous spir......

Passenger’s diarrhea forces emergency landing for Delta flight to Barcelona

An incident involving “diarrhea all the way through the airplane” caused a Delta Air Lines flight to Barcelona to make an emergency landing last week. The Airbus A350 was forced to fly back to its location of departure at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport approximately two hours after takeoff, according to the flight-tracking site FlightAware.com. The issue was reportedly a potential biohazard for those on board, and a spokesperson for the airline published a statement Tuesday evening seeming to confirm the report. “Delta flight 194 on Sept. 1 from Atlanta to Barcelona returne......

Unhinged driver who hurt seven pedestrians in wild Midtown Manhattan crash charged with attempted murder

NEW YORK -- The unbalanced woman who told police she “prayed to God” as she plowed into seven pedestrians at a Midtown Manhattan intersection has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, police said Tuesday. Imani Lucas, 29, is also facing charges of assault, reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. She faces one count of attempted murder for each person she allegedly struck after driving her Honda through a red light at Sixth Ave. and W. 36th St. just north of Macy’s Herald Square about 11:55 p.m. Sunday. She struck six men and a woman in the crosswalk, includ......

Stranded at Philly stadium, die-hard Bruce fans are 'devastated' and 'worried'

PHILADELPHIA — On Monday afternoon, almost two full days before Bruce Springsteen would take the stage at Citizens Bank Park, Mel Beldi and Ann Bertucci parked themselves outside the locked stadium gates. Being the first two in line meant that Beldi, who is from Australia, and Bertucci, who is from Virginia, had assumed a solemn duty. They were in charge of the roll call line — the fan-run system at Springsteen shows that determines the order of entrance for those lucky fans with “pit” tickets — admission to the Promised Land. The standing room only area right below the stage, where Bruce drea......

Robbie Robertson was at Tony Mart’s in Somers Point when Bob Dylan called. The rest is music history

PHILADELPHIA — One of the most mind-blowing episodes in South Jersey music history is that in the summer of 1965, Levon & the Hawks were the house band at Tony Mart’s, a dance club in Somers Point. The group was fronted by drummer Levon Helm and four Canadian members, including guitarist and songwriter Robbie Robertson, who died Wednesday at 80. And it was there that the band — who would soon become known as The Band — first made the connection that would change the course of music history. “When we first got there, it was like a gig on our way to New York,” Robertson told me in 2016, while pr......

Italian cheesemaker dies after shelf collapse buries him under thousands of wheels of Grana Padano

A 74-year-old dairy farmer and cheesemaker near Bergamo, Italy, died when a shelf collapse sent thousands of 44-pound wheels of cheese cascading on top of him, authorities said. Giacomo Chiapparini was checking on wheels of parmesan-style Grana Padano around 9 p.m. Sunday when a 30-foot-high shelf gave way, local officials said. About 25,000 wheels of cheese were stored in the warehouse. Chiapparini and his 50-year-old son, Tiziano, had gone to check on the wheels after a machine that cleans off mold and rotates them sent an alarm signal, according to friend and neighbor Bortolo Ghislotti. It ......
