President Donald Trump fired off a 310-word rant on social media Monday attacking Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and endorsing his GOP challenger, and the following day, Massie shrugged off the tirade with a dismissive remark.
“I ain’t reading all that,” Massie wrote Tuesday in a social media post on X, referencing the popular meme often used to respond to lengthy or incoherent online posts. “I’m happy for u tho or sorry that happened.”
Trump has been at war with Massie over the lawmaker’s persistence on forcing his administration to release files on Jeffrey Epstein. Massie was the co-sponsor of the now-passed Epstein Files Transparency Act, a bill that forced the Justice Department to release all of its files on Epstein by Dec. 19, and with minimal redactions, which the DOJ continues to blatantly violate.
In Trump’s rant, he attacked Massie as the “worst ‘Republican’ congressman we have had in many years,” and officially endorsed his GOP challenger Ed Gallrein, a former Navy Seal and farmer. Trump went on to attack Massie further, arguing that he “only votes AGAINST the Republican Party” and that he’d made “life very easy for the Radical Left.” He also called Massie a “totally ineffective LOSER.”
The relationship between Trump and Massie hadn’t always been hostile. Back in June, Massie recounted a bizarre phone call he’d received from Trump in 2024 after the passing of his wife, where the president gave Massie his condolences and called him a “tough cookie.”
Since then, however, Trump has declared all-out war on Massie, who has continued pressing the administration to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act – one of the main issues fueling pushback from the president’s own supporters.
