Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) joked that he was qualified to be secretary of the Department of Homeland Security after President Donald Trump called him a "loser."
In an interview with ABC News this week, Trump lashed out at Sens. Tillis and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) over their criticism of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem.
"They're terrible senators. One is gone, and the other should be gone," Trump snapped. "Tillis decided to drop out. So you know, he lost his voice once he did that."
CNN's Manu Raju asked Tillis to respond to Trump calling him a loser on Wednesday.
"I am thrilled about that," the senator replied. "That makes me qualified to be homeland security secretary and senior adviser to the president."
