'Hang them publicly': GOP lawmaker doesn't 'trust' DOJ's Epstein probe
CNN/screen grab

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) called for public hangings after President Donald Trump's Department of Justice declined to release files relating to accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

On Tuesday, CNN's Manu Raju asked Burchett if Attorney General Pam Bondi should appoint a special counsel to investigate the Epstein case.

"I don't know. I'm not an attorney," the lawmaker replied. "I just find them guilty and hang them publicly. I mean, that's not over the top either. I'm ready. I'm over it. It disgusts me."

"I'm big on clarity and transparency, and that's a good reason people don't trust government, either party," he added.

"But you don't believe what the Justice Department is saying?" Raju pressed.

"No, I don't," Burchett remarked. "I don't trust them."
