President Donald Trump put a stop to several budget items that directly impact Americans, including some of his own supporters, on Tuesday when he announced a temporary freeze on spending.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) said Trump is making this move because his party doesn't support passing a budget that makes such cuts.
Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace on Tuesday, Kaine said that the move is not just damaging to Americans but "it's betraying a deep insecurity."

He pointed out that Democrats and Republicans are currently working on a budget deal that must be passed by March 14.
"If he wants to cut the budget, he's got majorities in both houses. He could just work with them to do it the lawful way," said Kaine. "Reach a budget that matches the Trump priorities over the course of the next six weeks. The fact that he's not doing that — that he's using this illegal, unilateral executive strategy means he doesn't have confidence that the Republican leadership in both Houses will go along with the extremity of the actions that he's taking. That should tell us something."
Wallace noted that the plan was outlined in "Project 2025," so people should have known it was coming.
"But this is not something that his voters were prepared for," she said.
