New poll suggests many Republicans fear America is 'losing credibility'

President Donald Trump’s public approval rating is continuing to decline, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

And among those now unhappy are some of MAGA's past supporters.

Just 42% of those to answered the poll now approve of Trump's performance as president.

Three weeks earlier, a Reuters/Ipsos poll claimed his approval rating was at 43%.

More than 4,000 people responded to the inquiries, 83% of whom believe the U.S. president must obey federal court rulings even if he doesn't want to.

Two-thirds of those polled believed “the president should not be in control of premier cultural institutions such as national museums and theaters” — a notable dig at a Trump order from last month which asked the Smithsonian to remove "improper" ideology.

A third of Republicans polled disagreed with the statement that "it's okay for a U.S. president to withhold funding from universities if the president doesn’t agree with how the university is run."

However, this is not the only topic Republicans are souring on with the President.

Of those who responded, 59% — a third of which identified as Republican — said America was losing credibility on the global stage, according to the poll.

Three-quarters of respondents said Trump should not run for a third term in office. This includes a majority of Republican respondents — 53% of whom said Trump should not seek a third term.

According to Reuters, the poll had a margin of error of about 2 percentage points.

Trump’s strongest poll was on immigration. 45% of respondents approved of Trump's performance, but 46% disapproved.

The outlet noted Trump's approval rating is still higher than those of Joe Biden. Yet, they also claimed, “the latest poll suggests many Americans are uncomfortable with his moves to punish universities he sees as too liberal and to install himself as the board chair of the Kennedy Center, a major theater and cultural institution in Washington.”
