'You can walk and chew gum:' CNN's Kaitlan Collins rips Trump ally to his face

Things got heated between CNN's Kaitlan Collins and a Trump ally on Thursday night.

Rep. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) joined Collins on her show "The Source" to discuss the Wall Street Journal's bombshell report about previously unknown ties between President Donald Trump and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. The report detailed a letter Trump wrote Epstein for his 50th birthday that included an outline of a naked woman with Trump's name scribbled across her waist.

The report was released at a time when Trump had tried to distance himself from the Epstein story. Over the last week, Trump has called on his supporters to stop talking about the story and even attacked those who are asking questions about the files as "stupid" and "weaklings."

Collins asked Moreno what he thought about the president's request for the Department of Justice to turn over grand jury transcripts related to the Epstein case.

"I think it's a good thing," Moreno said. "We all know that the Democrats and the media would have weaponized this against him for years."

Moreno then changed the subject to discussing Trump's accomplishments on immigration, inflation, and foreign policy. He then criticized Collins for not spending more time covering those issues.

Collins wasn't about to let Moreno get away with that trick.

"This is a show where we cover the president, and this is what he's posting tonight," Collins shot back.

Collins also pointed out that the WSJ report has become a distraction for Republicans, which Moreno claimed was a non-issue. Instead, he claimed that the media's bias toward Trump was the real issue in the affair.

"C'mon, you can walk and chew gum at the same time," Collins said.
